Who is Mark Oliver?

Mark Oliver is a candidate for the office of Mayor of Brockville.

Born at the Brockville General Hospital, Mark is truly a lifelong citizen and active member of the Brockville community.

A self-starter, Mark first founded his local photography business in the city’s north end in 1990. Today, Mark remains the President and CEO of PhotoVisions, which is now Ontario’s oldest province-wide school photography company and is located downtown on King Street West. PhotoVisions has experienced incredible growth through nearly thirty years in business and Mark has been proud to employ hundreds of staff in the local area. He has also created PhotoVisions scholarships and bursaries for deserving graduates at local schools. Mark and his business were honoured as the Brockville Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year in 2004.

Mark has also been active in the local theatre community, participating in many shows put on by both the Brockville Theatre Guild and the Brockville Operatic Society. He is also long standing member and patron donor to the Brockville Theatre Guild and is a supporter of Brockville Theatre Camp. In 2014, he co-founded the Uppity Improv Society, a Brockville comedy community theatre company with free membership that has put on dozens of original comedy shows in the community.

Apart from leading PhotoVisions, Mark has further management experience through the Brockville Country Club. From 2012 to 2016, he volunteered his time to sit on the Board of Directors for the Club, culminating in a one-year term as Vice President.

For over 10 years, Mark has been a continued advocate and supporter of the Champions for Kids foundation, a local organization through the Upper Canada District School Board that seeks to level the playing field by supporting families in need through challenging circumstances. PhotoVisions was amongst the first corporate sponsors of the organization when it was created in 2008.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queen’s University, where he met his wife, Laura. Mark and Laura have been married for 26 years and have raised their three daughters in the Brockville community.
